Jimmy El Homsy, talented artist from Lebanon, reached thousands of admirers around the globe with his last project launched in 2020: Dot Dot Dot.
Artist • Designer • Dreamer
A multidisciplinary artist with exemplary talent. His interpretation of the spirit of fine art saturates his paintings with a unique expressive richness. Although each new subject seems to dictate the style and approach, his paintings have always abundant color, light, texture, atmosphere, energy, and emotion.
Jimmy was born in 1980 in Lebanon, working in painting and design. Before graduation in Graphic Design with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the American University of Science & Technology in 2008, his promising talent in drawing and painting earned him one of only six available spots to enroll in the university‘s Applied Arts Program in Beirut and received a Continuing Education Program Certificate in Fine Arts in 2005.
Following graduation in 2008, Jimmy lived in Beirut, Lebanon and worked at Fattal Holding as a Trade Marketing Executive until 2012 when he was promoted to a Marketing Manager role and then to a Senior Marketing Manager in 2016 until 2019. In addition began teaching drawing and page layout classes at the Montana Institute of Technology and Applied Sciences in Aaoukar, Lebanon in 2013 and 2014.
On top of his consistent figurative painting focused on emotional nudity and various philanthropic subjects, Jimmy undertook throughout the years painting commissions across Lebanon, freelance creative jobs for local and international brands and conducted private tutoring for university students majoring in Graphic Design, Architecture and Fashion Design pursuing his passion for Visual Arts.
Jimmy was influenced by Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti while establishing his own artistic roots. His work includes figures, portraits and still lifes. He is an avid traveler whose work is inspired by his adventures. Jimmy’s primary goal is to continue cultivating his unique style, by expressing the form and anatomy as well as color and composition through a representational painting approach.
In 2018 he initiated an ongoing project, Dot Dot Dot Sketches a 360° visual approach comprising photography, ink on carton and installation depicting the twenty first century’s everyday life challenges, through technique and style combinations of Rembrandt’s printmaking, the Chinese Ink painting and modern street photography.
