“World Monuments Fund is delighted to be running our stonemasonry project in Tripoli, Lebanon. This flagship project is critical because it focuses on training local Lebanese alongside Syrian refugees in conservation stonemasonry. The idea is that we give people the skill to help conserve the region’s extraordinary architectural heritage – and at the same time support families and livelihoods. It is just as important to invest in people as it is into the buildings themselves – because without those skills and respect for tradition there will be no one to look after everyday heritage which plays such an important role in all our lives.”
